#WebsiteWednesdays Choosing a platform to design your website

Trying to design a website and unsure what platform to use? We will explain the benefits and downfalls of our two favorite platforms.

Trying to design a website and unsure what platform to use? It depends on your website knowledge and what you are trying to do with your website. Today, The Bonafide Lyrics & Marketing, LLC are going to talk about the two platforms that they use the most in web design. WIX and WordPress.

Wix is an all-in-one drag and drop editor that markets itself as an easy do it yourself editor. If you have zero website design knowledge, you can still design high quality websites. They have over 500 different templates that you can choose and modify. Or you can start from scratch. Wix will provide you services for many of your needs such as: Domain, Hosting, E-Commerce, Email, Booking, Video Posting, etc. It even provides you with a lot of apps to assist with your business such as Social Media Post creation, video creation, invoice/quote creation, event posting, email marketing, and so many other services. You will have to pay for many of the more advanced apps but the ease of use and integration is fantastic. There are some limitation to what you can do in terms of very detailed scripts or any integrations that wix has not previously included.

The cost of Wix is broken down by plans.

The very popular Unlimited Plan includes a domain, unlimited bandwidth, and 10GB of storage. The Unlimited Plan cost $204/year which averages out to $17 a month. Or you can pay it monthly at $22 a month without the free domain.

The Business Unlimited E-Commerce Plan includes a domain, online payments and 35GB of storage. The cost comes to $324/year which averages out to $27 a month. Or you can pay $33 a month without a free domain.

It is also important to keep your partners up to date about the current state of your business and any updates to your operations or services. This is also a good time to reach out to any partners that you have not contacted in a while.

WordPress is an open source software that is used to create websites. It requires a bit more design experience to utilize the many different features that it has. Most of the programs you use have a way to integrate into WordPress. You can download thousands of plugins to wordpress that will assist with your design. Over 56,084 plugins are available for you There are plugins for everything from video popups, zoom integrations, and social media posting, to email marketing, and different types of photo galleries.

WordPress is not a services in itself though. It is free by itself. You would integrate wordpress with a hosting service. The hosting service is what you would pay for based on what you are doing. You would choose a hosting service based on how many websites you are creating, how much bandwidth you would need (more pictures/more videos/more store items will need more bandwidth), and any additional services you will need. The popular hosting sites are GoDaddy, BlueHost, or HostGator.

Many of the popular plugins also have a Pro version that cost money. So that will be a cost. You can look at the many plugins here
